Acer palmatum 'Lileeanne's Jewel' is a brand new introduction with a rare variegation of pink and white on a bright cherry red and heavily divided leaf. Mid-summer colors are a green-red with pink and white variegation. It is estimated to get about 10-12 ft in 15 years. Fall colors are crimson reds infused with hot pink variegation. This selection is fairly heat tolerant as it has handled the sun of Simpsonville, SC, without burn to the variegation. The variegation appears fairly stable. However, since this is a new cultivar, we suggest avoiding heavy fertilizers. Any branches not showing variegation should be trimmed out.
This rare Japanese maple was found as a chance seedling by our friend, Johnathon Savelich, and named after his daughter, Lileeanne.

This maple is exceptional! I'm in Northern California zone 9b and it withstood triple digit heat waves all summer with little to no damage, only the tips of the leaves about 1/8" dried. The color display was out of this world, never stopped changing colors, red,pink, dark maroon, white and a little green. It is now November and it's again turning deep red. I've have had issues with crispy leaves on mostly every other maple but not Lileeanne's Jewel. She's in a large pot on my patio under an 11' umbrella and everyone notices her. If you want a beautiful heat tolerant maple get this one, the colors are magnificent.
