STYRAX JAPONICUS

'EVENING LIGHT' SNOWBELL

WHITE FLOWERING WITH RED LEAVES JAPANESE SNOWBELL

Zones 5-9

Light Shade to Full Sun

PP#24,168

Styrax japonicus 'Evening Light' was found as chance seedling by Henny Kolster in Boskoop, Netherlands. The dark purple elongated foliage emerges in the spring. The mahogany purple to black purple foliage provides excellent color in the landscape. Make sure to give ‘Evening Light’ plenty of sunlight to show off this dark purple color. Where ‘Evening Light’ really shows off is when the white to light white pink to white snow bell blossoms cover this tree in May and June. The contrast of these blooms against the dark foliage is spectacular. Not only will this put on a visual display, but the blooms are especially fragrant as well. ‘Evening Light’ forms a tight upright shape reaching 6-8 ft in height by 4-5 ft in width in 10 years.

Beautiful little tree

This is a stunning little tree that arrived promptly and in perfect condition. The photo is fresh out the box and now it's planted in its forever home and thriving with pretty new white flowers on it. The hummingbirds are going to love it and the dark colored leaves look beautiful in the yard. I recommend Mr Maple and would buy from them again!

Plant arrived very healthy and undamaged from shipping.

I have always wanted this plant but did not want to pay the high prices other sellers were charging. I also wanted to have a smaller plant because they are easier to plant and seem to grow better than larger ones. This arrived well packed, undamaged and with moist soil. Tree even has flower buds.
